— In Jean’s Words —

I was so discouraged with my piano playing and couldn’t see myself getting better, so I decided to quit. I told no one as I didn’t want any encouragement from anyone for me to keep going. However, I decided I’d make a recording just to remind myself I had once played the piano. When I started recording, my sound engineer was so encouraging and pleased with the results we were getting, that the excitement was contagious.

What I heard on the recording was much better than I thought, and also much worse, so I just got to work. I finished it, but put it away for some time, not knowing what I wanted to do with it.

Then an older woman in my town who made bracelets for Neiman Marcus gave me a gift of beautiful arm bracelets that she said she could see me wearing for my performances. I was both surprised and touched, so I had to give another performance, which led to my getting hooked again, and I released the CD.
